Since Valve made CS2 available to a small portion of the player base on March 22, eager players from all around the world have been wondering when they’ll get their hands on the full release and ditch CS:GO once and for all.

Valve has been silent as usual since the start of the CS2 limited test other than revealing the first CS2 Major will take place in 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark. All the new information on features coming to the title had been revealed by community leakers.

In classic Valve style, a huge update landed out of the blue on Tuesday, June 6, detailing the addition of interchangeable weapon loadouts, the ability to buyback at the start of rounds, and Mirage to the limited test. The beta showed Mirage has quite a number of bugs and Valve is trying to fix them at a steady pace through a number of minor updates.

If you’re dying to know when you’ll be able to play CS2‘s full version like we are, fear not. Here’s everything we know about the release date of CS2.

What is Counter-Strike 2’s release date?

All the official information made available by Valve is that CS2 is launching in Summer 2023. That is, however, as vague as can be. We assume Valve is talking about summer in the U.S. since its headquarters is located in Seattle. In that case, CS2 could release worldwide anywhere between June 21 and Sept. 23.

As the official day hasn’t been announced, several community figures continue to speculate when CS2 will really be released based on the changes Valve does to the beta. Those speculations, however, should be taken with a grain of salt.

With the June 6 update dropping a variety of changes, as well as more Steam Workshop tools for users to create skins and custom maps, some have speculated the transition to CS2 may be coming ahead of schedule. A massive update from June 29 replaced Mirage with Nuke and Office, allowing players to play more than one map in the beta and boosting the rumors that a full release is nearly upon us.

June 17’s update saw Valve continue to build upon the CS2 base experience, with a complete rework of Overpass launching in multiple modes. Also added was Vertigo, as well as a full playable port of the Wingman game mode. Even though Valve is still rotating maps out of the beta, the addition of major skin and visual settings—as well as Wingman—continues to drive speculation that CS2’s worldwide launch is close.

As much as we all want to play CS2we’ll have to wait until the official announcement to know exactly when CS2 is being released worldwide. At the end of the day, Valve is doing what it does best: drip-feeding information to the player base while working behind the scenes.

For now, all we can do is hope CS2 arrives sooner than later.
