AMD is reportedly working on a new GRE model, where GRE stands for Golden Rabbit Edition, the branding AMD used for its special China-exclusive models in 2022 for the Year of the Rabbit. Although the upcoming year is the Year of the Snake, AMD likely doesn’t want to change the naming too much, as the current name is good enough for such a limited release.

AMD has launched several GRE models, starting with the RX 6750 GRE series , which were exclusively available in China and served as a replacement for the limited stock of RX 7600 in the country. However, the RX 7900 GRE, which initially launched in China, was later made available globally through major retailers, though it remains a relatively scarce GPU model.

Now, it seems AMD is preparing to launch a new RX 7650 GRE, adding another model to the relatively underpopulated mid-range RDNA3 desktop portfolio.

The RX 7650 GRE is expected to fill the gap between the Navi 32 XL-based RX 7700 XT, which features 3,456 cores, and the RX 7600 XT, which is essentially a faster version of the RX 7600 but with the same core count and increased memory capacity of 16GB.

It’s worth noting that AMD had two RX 6750 GRE models with different specs and memory configurations (12GB and 10GB), so it’s possible that the RX 7650 GRE could have more than one configuration.

In any case, expectations for the RX 7650 GRE include a price under $400, a core count between 3,456 and 2,048, and most likely a memory configuration between 12GB and 16GB. And of course, China exclusive launch, but maybe not for the whole product life.
