GALAX’s BOOMSTAR Z890 Motherboard features 18+1+1 power phase VRM with 90A Dr.MOS for Intel Core Ultra 200 Series CPUs

Apart from the popular motherboard manufacturers such as ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock, there are more brands that have launched their own Z890 motherboards. This time it’s GALAX which has introduced a new Z890 motherboard.

GALAX unveiled the Z890 Boomstar motherboard, which falls under the BOOMSTAR series. Galax has prepared two variants of the motherboard, featuring a White and a Black edition for different color-themes PC builds. The motherboard features a large-magnetic removable ARGB kit that can be customized as per preferences. The RGB lighting is present on both the I/O shroud and the chipset, which can be customized for a mesmerizing appearance.

The GALAX Z890 Boomstar motherboard uses an 8-layer PCB covered in large heatsinks from top to bottom and offers properly grooved heatsinks for the VRM. Under the heatsinks on top, users will find a robust 18+1+1 power phase VRM, bringing 90A DrMOS for great stability for overclocking the Intel Core Ultra 200 Series processors. There are 2x 8-pin EPS connectors on the top left near the VRM heatsinks and several headers on the top right for fans and coolers.

The motherboard is on par with most mid-range Z890 motherboards from other manufacturers and brings the latest connectivity such as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The board has 4x DIMMs, supporting up to 8667 MT/s of memory speed with Intel XMP support, and for storage, there are 5x M.2 ports with native PCI-E 5.0 support for the primary M.2 slot. At the bottom, there are four SATA ports as well, positioned at a right angle for easy cable connection.

There are 3x PCI-E x16 slots, all of them using steel armor for better durability and supporting heavy GPUs. At the bottom, Galax has equipped the board with some troubleshooting options such as an Error Code reader, and at the top, users can find the Debug LEDs for basic troubleshooting. Moreover, there is a power button at the bottom for convenience.

There is no word on its pricing yet but the motherboard should start shipping starting 24th October, when other manufacturers will start shipping their Z890 motherboards.
