Following Fnatic’s exit from the 2023 LEC Winter Split, the team’s AD carry Rekkles apologized to the fans on Twitter for his subpar play.

Rekkles claimed in his video that the new year had not gotten off to a good start. “I wanted to apologize for not being able to deliver; it’s been incredibly difficult.”

Fnatic’s loss to SK Gaming earlier today resulted in their elimination from the LEC Winter competition. The team finished the round-robin with a record of 2-7, and their four-game losing skid allowed Astralis (who had won three of their previous four games) to squeak in as the eighth seed for the split. Fnatic was eliminated today, breaking a streak of ten years during which they had never failed to make the LEC playoffs.

Rekkles and Fnatic faced enormous pressure this split, especially because the seasoned League player was returning to the LEC after spending a year away from the area playing in the LFL. Upon his return to Fnatic, rumors of his success both domestically and abroad quickly spread. Fnatic, on the other hand, have had a terrible season to date, losing seven of their first nine LEC games.

Fnatic will have to wait until the start of the Spring Split to compete on stage once more as a result of the league’s new format. Fnatic won’t play in another LEC match until March because the worst two teams are ousted from each LEC split after the first round robin.

Rekkles claimed, “I don’t think I have been able to contribute much to our team’s success. On the contrary, I believe that I was more likely responsible for the team’s defeat. I really apologize for anything.

Rekkles performed much worse than normal on the LEC stage this winter. According to League analytics website Gol.gg, the former MVP placed in the bottom three among all AD carry in KDA, average kills, and gold per minute. Particularly this winter, his KDA of 3.2 is far below career average by a full three points.

Rekkles stated in his video that he will have more time to broadcast and will be able to respond to more fan queries because his team won’t be playing in the LEC for a few weeks. On February 11, the LEC Winter Split will go on to its next phase.
