A leak revealed that Fortnite is working on a new rope-swinging mechanic for the popular battle royale title. Fortnite is no stranger to adding new movement mechanics to keep the game feeling fresh, and it seems to be continuing that trend.

Over the years, Fortnite has added various movement features like sprinting, sliding, mantling, and more. These updates have allowed the game to keep up with competitors like Apex Legends and Call of Duty, both of which offer fast-paced movement mechanics. It seems that Fortnite has every intention of maintaining this trend, as new leaks point to an interesting new movement mechanic that could fundamentally change how players traverse the map.

Fortnite leaker Wenso claimed that a new rope-swinging mechanic is being worked on and will be released sometime during Chapter 5. Wenso further explained that players will be able to swing from fixed ropes and chandeliers that are spread around the map. It’s still unclear how common these ropes and chandeliers will be once they are introduced. This new mechanic being limited to these objects gives Fortnite‘s developers control over how widespread rope swinging will be, and it’s likely that their prevalence will be tuned as the development team gauges the community’s reaction following the new mechanic’s debut.

The Fortnite leaker also explained that rope rappelling will be added to the game as well. This mechanic will allow players to climb up or down the same ropes that can be used to swing. While some fans might have hoped for the reintroduction of Fortnite‘s Spider-Man Web Shooters, these new mechanics are taking this idea and toning it down so that Fortnite‘s core gameplay won’t be affected nearly as much. It’s not yet known if players will be able to shoot or build while swinging, but if so, many interesting playmaking opportunities will be made possible. Just like Fortnite‘s battle royale mode, fans of LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Rocket Racing can expect interesting new updates as well.

Recent leaks suggest that LEGO Fortnite will receive new weapons soon, such as a Gravity Gun, Stud Gun, and Manual Bow. Also, a new Death Race mode is apparently in the works for Rocket Racing. Following Fortnite‘s record-breaking 2023, it seems likely that the game will continue expanding in new directions.

Some have speculated about what 2024 will hold for Fortnite, and while its future isn’t entirely clear, it’s probably safe to assume that the game won’t be slowing down. New game modes, collaborations, and mechanics are just some of the possible additions coming to Fortnite next year.
