Team Liquid wants MATUMBAMAN to be regarded as one of the greatest Dota 2 players ever.
MATUMBAMAN won The International 7 in 2017 with Team Liquid, solidifying his status as a Dota 2 legend. But the remainder of his playing career—both before and after—strongly suggests that he was among the best players to ever compete in the sport.
Team Liquid broke out some of the impressive stats he accumulated throughout his Dota 2 career to ensure his legacy and the impact he made on the game are recognized now that he is retired.
He has dealt more building damage, killed more neutrals, earned more gold from kills, and accumulated more net worth than any other Dota 2 player in the scene, for instance, his win rate percentage at The International is just under 60%.
They also discussed the effect he had on specific heroes, such as Necrophos, on whom he had dealt an astounding 128 Reaper’s Scythe kills, Phantom Assassin, on whom he had critted for a mind-blowing 6.2k damage, and Broodmother, on whom he had a ridiculous 77.5 percent win rate.
The influence he had for Liquid as a carry and mid-lane player transcends statistics, yet they still show he was one of the best and most reliable players during his eight years of professional gaming.
It was appropriate that he completed the cycle by hanging up the boots after an exclamatory “one-last-ride” stint with Liquid. Had they raised the Aegis at The International 2022, it would have been almost the ideal send-off. On the strength of some legendary MATUMBAMAN performances, though, a third-place result was not far off.
