The $3,500 Samsung Odyssey Ark is a prototype for a gaming display.
samsung’s Odyssey Ark from Samsung was hardly noticeable at CES 2022, but the curved 55-inch gaming monitor/TV is almost set to go on sale. Reservations for preorders may be made now; it will be available for $3,499.99 starting in mid-September. With a selection of PC games, I had the opportunity to test out an Odyssey Ark prototype. Unexpectedly, playing games while three feet away from a 55-inch 4K screen with a 165Hz refresh rate is fantastic. However, I was as astounded by the wealth of options the Ark can provide.
The Ark is Samsung’s most overt attempt to establish itself as a producer of gaming monitors. Of course, one way to stand out is to have a 55-inch 1000R curvature. It is simple to rotate for usage with up to three video sources in portrait mode. The Samsung Gaming Hub on smart TVs, which enables cloud streaming through services like Xbox Game Pass, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna, is the second important method. It runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS, just as the Samsung M8 Smart Monitor I reviewed, in case you wish to use any streaming apps like YouTube or Apple TV Plus.
