SONY’s latest generation of wireless IEMs – WF-1000XM4 – announced this week is the inclusion of LDAC support, a strong connection between a smartphone and a headset that can connect to a 990kbps Bluetooth network. It’s not enough for CD-quality audio and a long way from hi-res audio data requirements, but it’s good enough for good audio. And it will drop back to 660kbps and 330kbps. The Bluetooth codec will remind you that the WF-1000XM3 only supports AAC (and SBC).
